Beauty buffs suffering from adult acne have been reaching for for a 'miracle' product to clear up their breakouts without seeing a dermatologist. Those who have got their hands on the 'game changer' gel insist that it gets to work within as little as 'two to three' applications.
The product in question is Dr Sam's Flawless Neutralising Gel, which has gone viral on TikTok in recent months. The woman behind the brand, Dr Sam Bunting, launched the product, which costs £30 for 30ml tube, back in 2018 after noticing a rise in adults suffering from acne and blemish prone skin.
I got to chat with Dr Sam about why she created the product and why she loves it so much. She said: "The best way to tackle any skin problem is to target it at multiple points. I've seen in clinic that existing offerings are either too weak and don't do much or were really effective but dried the skin out too much and became prohibitive to use."

"I wanted to create something that was right in the middle," Dr Sam added. "I wanted to create something you can use in the morning and layer under makeup. Patients have actually told me it's better than prescription strength creams. It took a little while to get social traction but it's now our top-selling item."
It comes as around 40% of adults struggle with blemish-prone skin, but the majority of spot-related skincare products on the market are targeted at teens. And while many younger people admittedly often struggle with acne and other skin issues, it’s not one-size-fits-all for spot-prone skin, with adult skincare needs differing from those of teenagers.
This £30 pimple-busting powerhouse has been through dozens iterations, so has been fine-tuned to treat adult skin blemishes, acne, redness, and dark patches. It contains 5% Azelaic Acid to clear up redness, cleanse pores and combat blemishes and 2% Salicyclic Acid to reduce inflammation and exfoliate dead skin cells.
Elsewhere, Medik8's Blemish SOS Rapid Action Target Gel is available for £25, or a good budget-friendly alternative is the La Roche-Posay Effaclar A.I. Breakout Corrector reduced from £15 to £12 at Boots. At Beauty Bay, the 2% Salicylic Acid + Azelaic Acid Overnight Mask comes in at £9.50.
It's not just Dr Sam who loves the Flawless Neutralising Gel. The product boasts over 800 five-star reviews with one satisfied shopper writing: "I've been struggling with horrendous break outs and after using this for only a week, my skin has completely cleared. Amazing."
A second said: "Just wow, completely got rid of every red blemish and spot. I'm 58-years-old with menopausal type rosacea or red pimples on my nose and cheeks - all gone after two to three uses. I can't quite believe it. It's a miracle in a tube. You only need a tiny amount."
Somebody else penned: "Dr Sam’s Neutralizing Gel is pure magic. It clears my pimples in just a day, even those deep, under-the-skin ones that usually take forever to surface. This stuff stops them before they even get the chance. Plus, it keeps my skin hydrated and helps it heal faster with way fewer marks. I don’t know how I lived without it."
One shopper, however, gave the Flawless Neutralising Gel a three-star review because they are yet to see any results. It reads: "Was hoping it would get rid of my odd spots but doesn’t seem to be helping."
But another loved their latest Dr Sam's purchase, adding: "I’ve been struggling with cystic acne and blemishes on my cheeks for so long, and nothing seemed to work—everything I tried just made my skin more irritated and caused more breakouts. But after using this for just a week, the acne on my cheeks has significantly disappeared, and I honestly can’t believe the results. I’ve also been using the Flawless Cleanser alongside it, and I couldn’t recommend these products more.
